Born in Barbados she grew up listening to reggae music and began singing while she was young. Disturbed by the chaos in her family and the constant arguments between her parents, she became immersed into music. Soon, she realized that she wanted to be a professional singer. In high school, she formed a music group and was subsequently invited to perform for Evan Rodgers. The producer was very impressed with the talent of this teenager.
